Lying in bed thinking of you Mikey. Thinking of everyone’s hearts you touched in your short time with us. I love thinking of all the memories we had together. You were so funny, full of life and so witty and kind. Giada sarah and Jules uncle Anthony and I miss you so much and not a day goes by that we dont think about you. God how we wish we could have you here with us again. When I watch your videos, they make me smile. How lucky I am to be your aunt. We miss you and love you Mikey. Watch over us especially mom dad Victoria and grandma. Until we meet again buddy. Love you with all our hearts and souls.

I’m reaching out to provide my deepest sympathies and condolences. Rich, what a nice tribute to your nephew and the family.

I’ve had the pleasure of meeting your brothers, mom and dad. I can tell the tight bond from the very beginning you and your brothers shared together

It truly just breaks my heart to know the loss and the crushing effect that the death of a beloved little soldier who fought hard and stayed strong. He had the light of life in his eyes.

May he rest in peace. May you all find peace over time and have Mikey’s light carry on!

Mikie, it’s been just 10 days since you left us. I went to see you at the cemetery today. I just want you to know that your uncle Richie really misses you ALOT! And I would do ANYTHING just to hear your precious little voice once again. I love you so much Mikie. I only hope and pray that I get to be with you again one day. 😓😓😓

Michael, you were simply a remarkable young boy. Even at the young age I met you, your inquisitive nature, caring heart, and positive spirit left a lasting impression on me and everyone who had the privilege of knowing you. You always had a unique way of brightening the world around you with your curiosity and strength, even when you didn’t need to be strong. I will miss our conversations and our drawing sessions. I can still hear you humming along to whatever song was stuck in your head and see your enormous, ever so handsome, smile. I am truly blessed to have known you and been a part of your 2TL family. Your smile radiated in the halls, your love for life and every day that came with it did not go unnoticed. Your stories and jokes will never be forgotten- they will be told and reminisced forever. For a person who’s never at a loss of words, I’ve been sitting here for the past 3 hours with a note pad and pen struggling to formulate a comprehensive sentence relying on my own intellect to succor the situation we are faced with.
Knowing I can’t possibly come up with anything on my own, I began to pray and ask God through Jesus to give me the words that would be his and not mine.
Matthew 5:13 you are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is good nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men.
14: you are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden.
15: Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand and it gives light to everyone in the house.
16: in the same way , let your light shine before others that they may see your good deeds and glorify your father in heaven.
Like most I still need understanding of this so I ask God and the meaning of it is comparing Michael to salt, which preserves food, and light which illuminates darkness meaning that he was called to positively influence the world around him with his faith, strength, tenacity, kindness and overall actions.
I know that what God desires for our lives may not align with our personal desires or plans, and following Gods will can involve difficult situations, incredible burdens and choices that we wouldn’t naturally choose for ourselves. Essentially God’s plan is bigger and wiser than our limited understanding and may not be what we want.
I had the absolute honor to share this faith with Michael, to be used in God’s plan for him , answering many questions he had, sharing my relationship with Jesus. An incredible conversation with a truly remarkable and inspiring young boy.
Michael’s time in the physical world was a cross many people would’ve been crushed by. Yet like a true Maffei he didn’t complain, he did not ask for pity he didn’t ask how much it weighed. He saw his name on it, He picked it up, put it on his shoulders and put one foot in front of the other everyday
He truly was Salt and Light !

To my dear cousins Michael & Julia, it pains me to be writing this message. I cannot even begin to express my sincerest sympathy, I never thought this day would come. But instead of trying to describe this unfathomable pain, I wanted to thank you both. Thank you both for showing me and our entire family what unconditional love looks like. Thank you both for fighting alongside Michael Jr on days that you might not have had it in you. Thank you for being the absolute best parents to your children that I have ever witnessed. Thank you for doing everything in your power to make sure that Michael’s time here on Earth was as special, beautiful and full of love and happiness as can be. He and Victoria are so incredibly lucky to have you as parents. But I know you are just as lucky to have them. And finally, thank you for bringing this little boy into the world that showed everyone he’s ever met what a true fighter & hero is. He touched so many lives and will never ever be forgotten.

And to little Michael, thank you for your wisdom beyond your years, for your courage and strength, for your love and for changing our lives forever. May you rest in peace, little angel. 🪽

There is a quote by Winnie the Pooh that I’ve always loved, “How lucky are we to have someone that makes saying goodbye so hard.” This is truly the hardest goodbye because he was truly the greatest; I am so blessed to be his cousin and to have had the privilege of knowing such a special soul. I love you all very much.

Not quite sure what to say about a young child who taught me more about life than I or other adults ever have. He was my best friend’s son and also my own son’s best friend. Michael was a warrior and a beacon of light. He lit up every room he entered and touched every soul he came across. I’m thankful I knew him and humbled that someone as special as him called me Uncle Bryan. My son Luca lost his best bud but in true Michael form, losing is never an option, so instead I’ll say that my son Luca was blessed to be a touched by the angel Michael’ was and for that matter we were all touched and forever inspired by him. Michael I and we will never ever forget you and we promise to live our lives like you would have wanted us all to. One love and one light for eternity.
